Oil Paints

The palette changes from course to course, so unfortunately I can’t guarantee a specific palette before the start of each course.

I recommend Michael Harding oil paints, which I have used for more than twenty years.

General recommendation for in-studio courses:

  1. Warm White / Bianco Caldo
  2. Ivory Black / Nero d’Avorio
  3. Burnt Sienna / Terra di Siena Bruciata
  4. Cadmium Red Light or Vermilion (both expensive, the cadmium is less expensive) / Rosso Cadmio Chiaro o Vermiglione
  5. Alizarin Crimson / Cremisi di Alizarina
  6. Raw Sienna / Terra di Siena Naturale
  7. French Yellow Ochre / Ocra Gialla Francese
  8. Raw Umber / Terra d’Ombra Naturale
  9. Burnt Umber / Terra d’Ombra Bruciata
  10. Terre Verte / Terra Verde
  11. Ultramarine Blue / Blu Oltremare

Additional Colors:

  • Indigo / Indaco
  • Sap Green / Verde Vescica
  • Naples Yellow Dark / Giallo di Napoli Scuro
  • Lead Tin Yellow / Giallo di Piombo e Stagno
  • Neutral Grey / Grigio Neutro

Try Before You Buy

Instead of purchasing all of the paints, you can opt to pay an additional fee of €30 per painting session and we will provide you with all the Michael Harding paints you will need.

Brushes

I generally use hog bristle brushes, rounds and filberts, but always good to have some synthetics as well.

Also, a good brush holder is well worth the investment!
