Oil Paints
The palette changes from course to course, so unfortunately I can’t guarantee a specific palette before the start of each course.
I recommend Michael Harding oil paints, which I have used for more than twenty years.
General recommendation for in-studio courses:
- Warm White / Bianco Caldo
- Ivory Black / Nero d’Avorio
- Burnt Sienna / Terra di Siena Bruciata
- Cadmium Red Light or Vermilion (both expensive, the cadmium is less expensive) / Rosso Cadmio Chiaro o Vermiglione
- Alizarin Crimson / Cremisi di Alizarina
- Raw Sienna / Terra di Siena Naturale
- French Yellow Ochre / Ocra Gialla Francese
- Raw Umber / Terra d’Ombra Naturale
- Burnt Umber / Terra d’Ombra Bruciata
- Terre Verte / Terra Verde
- Ultramarine Blue / Blu Oltremare
Additional Colors:
- Indigo / Indaco
- Sap Green / Verde Vescica
- Naples Yellow Dark / Giallo di Napoli Scuro
- Lead Tin Yellow / Giallo di Piombo e Stagno
- Neutral Grey / Grigio Neutro
Try Before You Buy
Instead of purchasing all of the paints, you can opt to pay an additional fee of €30 per painting session and we will provide you with all the Michael Harding paints you will need.
Brushes
I generally use hog bristle brushes, rounds and filberts, but always good to have some synthetics as well.
Also, a good brush holder is well worth the investment!
Other Materials
