Figure Painting – Figures in the Landscape
Level: Intermediate, Advanced
Time: Saturdays from 15:00 – 18:00. The first lesson will be held Saturday, September 16th.
Cost: €40 per lesson and one-time registration fee of €50 OR €45 per lesson and no registration fee. Model fee included / Materials not included.

Course Description:
One figure in the landscape would be ambitious. We’ll go for two. In addition to setting the stage for a two-figure composition in the studio, we will also work with the models IN the landscape in order to best establish a connection between the figures and the surroundings.
The canvas size is the decision of each participant, but a large-sized canvas is encouraged: no guts, no glory.
Special attention will be given to:
- Finding meaning in Composition: the relationships of the figures to each other and the surrounding landscape
- Strategies for managing a large-scale work
- Object-oriented light vs. atmosphere-oriented light
- Sustaining unity
Recommended Materials:
- Wood Palette
- 1 Palette Knife
- Linseed oil
